Waterproof Foam Manufacturer
Waterproof foam sheets and blocks are typically produced from Polyethylene (PE) – a closed-cell foam known for its durability, versatility and insulation properties. Many foam types are open-cell, which are not waterproof. Water-resistance can be found in closed-cell foams, but these must also be high density to ensure the foam is waterproof.
The combination of waterproof foam’s closed cell structure and high density provides a number of advantages including long-term durability and chemical resistance. Whether you need waterproof foam in blocks or sheets, we can provide the ideal solution that meets your size, quantity, shape and budget requirements.
Popular Applications
- Medical applications – resistance to liquids and bacteria make many foams suitable for medical use
- Retail products – including swimming aids and children’s swimming floats
- Domestic use – including upholstery foam for chairs and other furniture
- Sports equipment – for protection and shock absorption

FAQs
How is waterproof foam produced?
Waterproof foam requires a closed-cell structure and high density, creating a barrier to air and water. The structure of closed-cell foam is created during production as the materials are pressed to reduce space between each cell, making it more ‘closed’ than other foam types and increasing its density.
How long will waterproof foam last?
Due to their high density, waterproof foams tend to last much longer than lower density foams, subject to their use and care. Lower density foam typically lasts 4-6 years, while high density waterproof foams can last eight years or more.
Is all closed-cell foam waterproof?
Only the highest density closed-cell foams are waterproof. Common applications for this kind of foam include car door panels, upholstery and outdoor seating. Waterproof foam can be produced in a number of different forms including foam sheets, foam blocks and spray foam.
Is Ethafoam waterproof?
Generally used for packaging, Ethafoam is a type of versatile closed-cell polyethylene foam that is water-resistant. At high density Ethafoam is waterproof as well as being impervious to most chemicals, mildew and rot.
